My questions for Adventists regarding the 10 Commandments

I have some questions for my Adventist friends:
  1. Where does the Bible teach that the 10 Commandments are God's perfect moral law? Why do you believe the 10 Commandments are God's law and the other laws are Moses' laws (or man-made laws) when they were ALL given by God and were referred to as the Lord's law (Luke 2:22-24 & 39)?
  2. Why do you believe something that God wrote is more important than something He spoke? And why don't you apply the same "writing" logic to other cases (Daniel 5, John 8:6)?
  3. Why do you insert the phrase "the 10 Commandments" to passages in the Bible that talk positively of the law but insert "the rest of the law" into any passage that speaks negatively of the law?
  4. Do you believe Jesus died to satisfy the demands of the moral laws or just the ceremonial/civil/sacrificial laws?
  5. Where does the Bible teach that the 10 Commandments are God's moral law and the "rest" of the law is civil, ceremonial, and sacrificial laws?
  6. Where does the Bible teach that the 10 Commandments apply to Christians? (and please note that if just part of them apply that doesn't guarantee that the whole thing applies, otherwise your argument would "prove" that the whole Mosaic law applies to Christians - unless you believe it's now acceptable for us to show favoritism Ex. 23:3)
  7. What do you do with all of the verses that teach that the 10 Commandments were the words of the old covenant and the old covenant was done away with? (see previous blog for references)
  8. If you believe the new covenant is simply the 10 Commandment written in our hearts instead of on stone, how has the covenant actually changed? Deut. 6:6-9, Heb 7:12 If the Israelites under the Old Covenant were to have God's laws on their hearts, how has this changed? How has the law changed if both are the same law?
  9. Why is the whole focus on the 4th Commandment? Have you ever been angry? Are you then not guilty of breaking the 6th Commandment (Matt. 5:21-22, Ex. 20:13)? Have you ever had a dirty thought? Are you then not guilty of breaking the 7th Commandment (Matt. 5:27-30, Ex. 20:14)? James 2:10 - "For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it." Until you become perfect, does it matter if you "perfectly" 1 of the 10 or even 8 or 9 of the 10 Commandments if you don't "perfectly" keep all 10, if we are judged by keeping the 10 Commandments perfectly?
